French Heart-Shaped and Dark Macarons/Macarons Français Coeurs et Noirs For Mactweets Challenge!

type="html">

I was planning to make these macarons for Mac Attack 3 last week, but I was hesitant for one reason: THE WEATHER.  Last week the weather was horrible; it was pouring and snowing outside, then I decided to start making my first batch of heart-shaped macarons.  I chose pink powder colour.  I never tried this shape before, it was a big challenge for me!  However, I was disappointed with the filling, because the butter cream I bought, as you may see in the picture, breaks.  It must be made with margarine instead of real butter.  This will teach me to make my own butter cream next time.
Then, I made my second batch of chocolate heart-shaped macarons, and they turned out so perfect and nice!  All of them got eaten with delight and I couldn't take a picture of sandwitched chocolat heart-shaped macarons.  The other thing that I wanted to try is THE BLACK MACARONS!  I don't have a black powder colour and I couldn't find it anywhere.  Then I tried a combination of 3 different colours: Purple, Green and Red.  To my surprise it worked.

Part of the Mactweets challenge that Deeba and Jamie are hosting, I made all these macarons. The January Mactweets challenge was "DO SOMETHING OR ADD SOMETHING YOU’VE NEVER DONE BEFORE BUT HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO TRY".

For recipe, I always use my usual recipe adapted from La cuisine de Mercotte, the Queen of French Macarons!.

French Coffee Macarons/Macarons Français Au Café/For Mac Attack 7

type="html">
This month's challenge at Mac attack is "MacTell Me A Story!" and our favourite book as a child.  Mine,  I must confess, was the Arabian Nights "One thousand and one nights"?.  I basically grew up on this book.
Shahrazad or Chahrasad, who was married to the mad King Shahrayar took me to her wonderful tales of the Arabian nights, a world where I enjoyed reading about Ali Baba, the Forty Thieves, Sindibad, Aladdin and the magic lamp and many other mystical creatures.  I saw Shahrazad as a great heroine, who succeeded to entertain the mad Sultan with adventures, and who  saved her own life as well as the female population through storytelling.  So I made these coffee macarons for Shahrazad and her King who was sleepless  and restless, yet pleased with the prospect of hearing her endless stories.

I’m submitting this post to MACTWEETS, a LOVELY BLOG devoted to MACARONS. Please check it out! The round up will be posted on the 15th of May.

type="html">

My love for chocolate gets me back to Mactweet attack! I really heart chocolate and my favourite is Dark Chocolate with Almonds! And who doesn’t love the combination of chocolate and almonds?  I think chocolate is one of the most mysterious sweets and so many questions were raised about the industry of chocolate, its consistency, texture, flavour, its secrets, etc.....  I served those macarons on Chocolate Dessert Cups with Strawberry and Moroccan Almond Briwat or Triangles! So delicious!
Recipe, adapted from David Lebovitz's superb recipe PLEASE CLICK HERE! .. .

And this is Moroccan Almond Briwat or Triangle.  It is stuffed with ground almonds mixed with some special spices, DELICIOUS!
This month's challenge at Mac attack is "DECADENTLY CHOCOLATE!"
All you need is love.
But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.

Violet and Mint French Macarons / Macarons Français Violets et à la Menthe

type="html">
I should have posted these a long time ago. I made those mint-violet macarons quite a few weeks ago, but I haven't had the time to post them. Whenever I decide to make macarons, I always seem to make them after 8h00 pm or when it's raining or worst, on a hot humid day. When I decide to make macarons, nothing could change my mind.  So I decided to make these treats, so be it.
This particular Spring, for some reasons, has been more humid than any I can recall. So I was patient, waiting to pick the least humid day, but all days were almost the same, either humid or very humid, so I chose a humid day which resulted in egg whites that were super-aged because I had to wait extra couple of days to make these macarons. So I added more cream of tartar as usual to my meringue to make me feel more confident and to give the batter more stability.

 For Violet Macarons, I added some grape-violet food colouring and for Mint Macarons, I used holly green food colouring and a pinch of ground dried mint leaves for extra boost of freshnes.  I particularly enjoyed these mint macarons, the flavour combination of chocolate and mint reminded me of Thorntons‘ Mint Chocolate Bars, so yummy!  As a filling, I used chocolate ganache, and the macarons themselves had developped a creamy, jelly-like texture that fused with the chocolate ganache in the center.
